in case this is relevant to my Yuletide writer: thoughts now that we're done with UCL group stages

Also, I guess I should make it clear: optional details are optional, and you don't have to integrate any of this blabbering into your fic. You're writing about things I love, with characters I'm deeply fascinated by - write what speaks to you and I'll love it!

blah blah I have a lot of feelings about sportsball! And we've just finished the group stages of the Champion's League!

Bayern are great, and continue to be great, which makes for good fuzzy feelings as a fan but not necessarily interesting narratives.

It does beg an interesting question: how does that affect people who have been there forever? What does the expectations of greatness really do to a person's psyche? What does that history mean to those inside?

...And if you want, what does it mean when a person leaves, either to play elsewhere or to retire? (And since we're thinking about the CL this year...how is Bastian Schweinsteiger feeling ending up in the Europa league for the first time in his career, and how (if at all) does Philipp find out and react?)
