  • The new apartment is amazing.

    • My commute is amazing. Getting to leave at weird hours without any judgement is amazing. I love the neighborhood already and only find more and more reasons to be all heart eyed about it.
    • I did hire the dude from BiReq to paint, which was a good decision - he got the job done while I went around buying things, and he was perfectly professional about it.
    • I also hired movers for clothes and other personal items, who were great, thanks to a recommendation from my sister. I don't otherwise speak to her, so that's interesting. After I'm done building up furniture maybe I'll invite her to see the place, which would be /wild/.
    • I am really compulsive about picking out furniture, it turns out. Thanks to this, I sprained my wrist building an enormous real wood queen-size bedframe with Very Extra slats by myself. Also thanks to this, my sofa won't come until April. But most things are in, and even many things are built already, which is great.
    • Oh god there are so many boxes in my apartment right now. There are enough boxes that they are taking up the space where my sofa will be and then some. It's kind of absurd and I really should work on fixing it, but I have to carry them down the stairs, through the hall, outside, and around a corner...or drop them down my window and meet them there, which is not a good idea, but also the best idea, who knows.
    • It is weird having laundry be such a process (the closest laundromat is half a block away and closes in the evening, or I walk further to a 24 hour one). I'm having a little trouble getting the dryers to fully dry things without blasting the heat so high it destroys things, but that may just be a matter of patience and quarters.

  • I did...a /lot/ of online shopping for this. Which makes sense, I work full time and free or nearly-free delivery is a godsend when trying to build a home from basically scratch, but it makes me uncomfortable, so I'm giving it up for Lent.
  • I've been spending some time with the PartnerBeast, some at Bi Request, and a lot at work, and otherwise not been social, which is...kinda awful, but also perfectly sensible. Once I'm not drowning in boxes and my wrist has healed I'll start feeling out other events. I'm looking forward to being able to host people, though that can only happen after my sofa arrives.
  • BiReq pointed me to St. Pat's for All, which is a queer-friendly indigenous-friendly St. Patrick's Day march in my neighborhood. I could walk with the New York Area Bisexual Network like I did for NYC Pride last year, and that'd be interesting, but we'll see how I'm feeling.
  • In terms of reading I read the first third of the manga Disappearance Diary by Hideo Azuma, which is a fascinating look into a depressed mind as well as most of the sourcebook for Tales from the Loop, an alt-80s indie RPG system. I haven't played tabletop RPGs in years - not since my last Pathfinder campaign ended in summer 2015 - but they were super important to me, and it'd be so nice to get a campaign going again if I could find the time. And I'm into the conceit of Tales, though it's hard to tell how it plays just from text.
